The United boss has opted to rest the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand for the game at the Stadio Olimpico.

Danny Simpson, Jonny Evans, Nani, Darren Fletcher and Louis Saha have travelled, along with youngsters Febian Brandy and Sam Hewson.
