Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters has secured the services of midfielder Steven Hogg from Manchester United on a two-year deal.
The 19-year-old was one of several players released by United at the end of last season after they disbanded one of their reserve teams.
"Steve is 6ft 3ins, left-footed and is a very good prospect," Peters told the club's official website. "He's got a lovely left foot - he's like a Glenn Hoddle with a left foot. He's tall, great on the ball and can see a great pass."
