"I am happy with the quality and age of this team," said Ferguson.

"They can grow up together and get better together. In that regard, I have no complaints at all.

"We have made a lot of changes over the last year or so but this is a good team already and they could go on to become very successful over the next five or six years."

Keane also thinks the more 'seasoned' players should bear the responsibility for Champions League failure. He said:

"There's pressure on every player at the club but the more experienced lads, like myself and one or two others, it's important that we take it more than the young lads because it's unfair on them.

"They're still learning, we're still learning and hopefully we can make up for it next year.

"Anyone who has been a footballer who has been around a few years, you are learning every day, from every training session and every game."
