United's Number 2 Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he may hold back some of his international players from friendly matches this season.

"I won't risk my players in a friendly match but I've never had a problem with competitive games,"

"At this time the World Cup is important to players and we understand that.

"What I don't like are the friendly internationals.

"You can bet Chelsea and Arsenal will be pulling players out.

"And if I have the injury problems that I have at the moment, I will be too."
