The Guardian report:

A commercial radio station called in police yesterday after
scores of its listeners took too literally an invitation to
have "a weekend of madness" at an off-season holiday camp.

Chalets at Pontin's in Prestatyn, north Wales, were damaged,
fighting broke out, and police arrested 30 people at 3am for
suspected offences including theft and dealing in class A
drugs.

Reinforcements were sent to the camp in the middle of the
night after an appeal for help from staff. The complex had
been hired by Liverpool's Radio City for 2,700 listeners to
join "48 hours of pubbing and clubbing".

Serious trouble broke out some four hours after four men
attacked bar staff and stole cash from the till. Fighting
broke out after midnight, leaving three young men with minor
stab wounds and damage across the site. One man was charged
yesterday with a public order offence, and 28 others and one
woman were still being questioned.

A spokeswoman for Pontin's said: "It was a private event and
unfortunately there were some problems. Most of those
present would have been from the radio station's catchment
area."
