Ron Atkinson has revealed that he was once approached by Manchester City to
become manager while he was in charge at Highfield Road.
The call came from Francis Lee who thought he could save the club from
demise, but when Big Ron declined the approach, Lee told him: "You being
manager of Coventry is like Frank Sinatra appearing at Wigan Pier!"
That's rich coming from a man who was hailed as a Maine Road messiah after
his boardroom putsch but fell flat on his face quicker than he used to
tumble in the opposition penalty area during his playing days
