Wayne Rooney will travel with the England squad on Monday to Germany before coming back to Manchester on Wednesday for a scan on his foot. It's believed that Eriksson wants to take Rooney in order to assess his fitness levels and his recovery rate. Why that can't be done in England is not disclosed in an FA statement.
The statement reads: "England head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has confirmed today Wayne Rooney will fly out to Germany with the rest of the England squad on Monday.
"Wayne will then return to England on Wednesday for a scan on his foot in Manchester.
"Wayne will be accompanied by the England team doctor Leif Sward who will then analyse the scan with Manchester United."
