Former Spurs defender Gary Mabbutt is the latest person to hit out at Roy
Keane. Mabbutt himself nearly brought legal action against John Fashanu during the 1993/94 season.
WHO'S NEXT OUT OF THE WOODWORK?
He said:
"Roy Keane is a world-class player but he should let his football do the
talking,"
"At the moment he seems intent on courting controversy.
"With the revelations he has come out with he will have lost a lot of respect
from his fellow professionals. They have a certain code of conduct to uphold.
"Players can't think they are beyond the laws of the land. There are certain
egos and images to play up to but it is totally unacceptable to do that to
another union member."
And what about revenge?
"If every player tried to take retribution, we would never see a football match."
"What Keane could have done was to play tough but fair whenever he faced
Haaland, winning every tackle, dominating the game and then at the end,
shaking hands with him after coming out on top."
"The biggest problem with football is that it is a contact sport and people can
get away with things that would not be accepted in other walks of life."
