From The Mirror:
Sunderland will this week make a £12million bid for Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen following Manchester United's decision that they can't afford him.
United insist the £30m signing of Rio Ferdinand will be their last big deal this summer unless they sell first.
It's a big blow to United boss Ferguson, who has admitted he wants to add a striker to his squad - and Gudjohnsen was his first choice.
David May may be off to Birmingham to link up with Steve Bruce. The Screws reckon that Bryan Robson may be offered a job there too.
Rustu Recber tells Planet Football that he has turned us down:
"I will stay at Fenerbahce for one year," said Recber.
"I'm a good Fenerbahce fan. Money is not everything for me.
"Manchester United has offered me much money. I will think about it after the end of the season.
"They will have to wait for one year."
Presumably to work on his grammar.
