'I thought we showed a lot of resolution and fight against a team that gives everything,'
'We had to work hard. They were a bit unlucky and made it a real cup tie.
'I sensed in the second half we were getting more penetration and creating chances. It kept them stretched a bit, and doing that I didn't worry as much as the first half.
'It was a competent performance. We had to battle but we did that well tonight.'
Clarets manager Ternent was delighted with his side's performance, despite the result.
He said: 'The team have done the whole football club proud. Manchester United are an exceptional team.
'It was an enjoyable experience apart from the result and a learning experience.
'That's the standard we have to try and attain.
'There are a lot of things we can learn from the game. It was a good open game, and in the second half we tried to get a bit more width out of our team.'
"The fact Alex said he was worried is a compliment to us," said Ternent.
"We have been creating chances but never really had a clear-cut opportunity.
We played well and enjoyed the experience.
"It's not bad when you can bring on Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Solskjaer, his finish was absolutely top drawer. But we didn't disgrace ourselves."
Wes Brown said: "We knew it was going to be tough and we would have to grind it out and get the win.
"They are playing at home, it was always going to be difficult. We had a lot of young players but we got together and played how we know we can do and got the win."
Wes on the Gunners "Saturday is a big game, everyone is looking forward to it.
"We've had a few good wins in the league and hopefully we can continue."

"We watched some videos and knew they play well and we had all the respect for them, but we came to play and we did."
