WES NEARLY BACK

Fergie told the Evening News:

"Wes started doing bits of training with the young players
last week. He will be continuing with that as well. He is
making quicker progress than we expected.

"We anticipated it would be the new year before we could
think about a comeback - but now we hope we can bring that
forward. I think we will now be looking for a reserve match
for him at the beginning of the next month. If all goes well
I could have him in the first-team squad for the festive
period. It is smashing news, and we are all pleased because
he's had a tough time.”

Unfortunately Gary Neville is doubtful for the Blackburn
match after hurting his Achilles:

"I've had a bit of a problem on and off for about two months
now and it just felt a little bit sore after the Rangers
game at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago.

"I felt it in the first few minutes against Denmark and it
was restricting me quite a bit so I thought it was better
that I went off.

"It was settling down, but I probably need to go back onto
the treatment I have been having and hopefully it will be
all right for weekend."
