Simply put, no. Lacking experience managing a top team seems to be David Moyes?s biggest downfall at the moment. Obviously, the replacement for Fergie was always going to be thrown in at the deep end, but it seems that Moyes is really struggling with the transition from his Everton job, where the pressure there was of a much lesser extent.
Everton?s 1-0 victory on Wednesday evening was not exactly a huge shock; in fact it was very much deserved. The Blues began the game two points ahead of United and inflicted the fourth defeat of the season on the champions.
It?s almost Christmas and United languish in ninth place, behind Southampton- who would have predicted that a few months ago? Also, 20/1 odds are now available on them winning the title- totally unheard of in recent times.
Moyes? saving grace could be United?s form in the Champions League. However, once the group stages are complete, it is hard to see them advancing too much further in the knockout stages. They are nowhere near the force they once were in Europe.
Lying twelve points behind Arsenal after only 14 games, is unknown territory for United, especially under Sir Alex. The teams around them seem to going from strength to strength, while the Mancs, for some reason have decided to halt their progress and domination of recent times by purchasing mediocre players and relying on overrated ?stars? such as Nani, Valencia, Ferdinand, Smalling, Jones and many more?.
As a Liverpool fan, watching the decline of United is great to see. Long may it continue, YNWA!
