Sir Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, hopes to complete the signing of Nemanja Vidic, the Serbia and Montenegro defender, for £7.2 million from Spartak Moscow this week, subject to a work permit being granted.
Vidic could be available for the FA Cup tie against Burton Albion on Sunday. "Good defenders win you things.
