VERON TRAINS WITH THE STIFFS

Veron was not included in the Argentina first team that trained yesterday,
Valencia's 22-year-old Pablo Aimar retaining his place after a bright second
half against England. "I'm not at all happy with how I've been performing,"
Veron said yesterday:

"But I've barely played for two months and I'm carrying a problem with my
achilles. It was OK but after five or 10 minutes it came back and made it hard
for me. The tendon is no excuse. I'm not at my best in footballing terms but
physically I'm fine because I worked. Things will work out OK. I hope it's
soon."
