Daily newspaper Clarin labelled Veron "the standard-bearer for
disappointment", adding his display was "his worst ever for the national team".

La Nacion went further:
"He represented all the bad things about Argentina in a 45 minutes to forget.
He showed a lack of precision and looked numb."
