Veron has been left at home for a rest but he is already looking ahead to the final at Old Trafford next May.

He said: "Maybe it is too early to start talking about winning the final because we have not even finished the first phase games. But, already, we are one of only three teams with maximum points along with Milan and Barcelona, so that makes us one of the favourites."

He added: "I have been knocked out of this competition in the quarter-finals two years ago with Lazio and in the semi-finals with United last season. Now it is time to go all the way to the final."

"I want to win it because I want to experience the great feeling of lifting the most important trophy in club football in front of our own fans at Old Trafford. But, personally, I would like a big challenge in the final as well."

"I dream of playing either Real Madrid or AC Milan because they are the biggest names and play the most spectacular football."
