The midfielder's current contract runs out at the end of the season and there has been plenty of interest in the player sparking rumours that United would be prepared to cash in on the 31 year old.
But Carrick has been in good form all season and it's expected that United will try to tie him down on the same sort of deal that Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs have signed.
Fergie believes that Carrick has plenty left in the tank to offer.
