Manchester United and Bolton will be sensationally dragged into the Lord Stevens bung enquiry.

The News of the World can reveal the ex-Metropolitan Police commissioner will recommend that between 60 to 80 transfers need further in-depth investigation.

Lord Stevens is heading the bungs probe set up in the wake of allegations by former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson during the ‘fake sheikh' sting and Luton boss Lord Stevens will present his preliminary findings from the inquiry on October 2nd and will name the transfers he believes needs forensic examination.

Among them will be deals involving United and Bolton who were implicated in last Tuesday's BBC Panorama programme on bungs in football.

Lord Stevens is ready to make a personal visit to FIFA headquarters in Zurich and plead with them to use their power and influence to help unravel transfers involving international players to the Premiership.

An FA insider confirmed: "Lord Stevens has looked at over 350 transfers in the Premier League alone.

"He will recommend at least 80 are examined in far deeper detail."
