United will be going into the game on a high after winning the Premier League by such a convincing margin and having the right sort of players rested and eager to get at Barcelona for a bit of revenge.
Fergie is brimming with confidence, you only had to listen to him address the crowd yesterday after the win over Blackpool to know that he has got his lads fired up for this one and would they dare fail?
United may not have been as convincing away from home this season but the Premier League was won at a canter and in many ways, United are better equipped to deal with Messi and Co, they are a lot more confident going into the game than they were in 2008.
And that’s something that Fergie has been thinking about, but remains unfazed.
He said: "Yes, I concede Barcelona are favourites in many people's eyes and have a super side, rich in experience and yet youthful enough to give them a good balance.
"But it is a challenge we are eager to meet. Don't write us off.
"We have the players to win, too, and while praising Barcelona is something that comes naturally, we will be making our own contribution."
