United have turned down a request from Setanta to play Everton at Old Trafford on Christmas Eve with an 8pm kick off time. A club spokesperson has dismissed the idea, calling it a 'logistical nightmare' and this view is echoed by the GMP. "It was a nightmare idea. Logistically it would have caused all sorts of chaos with people coming over from Merseyside adding to the normal Christmas congestion. With the rivalry between the two cities and the clubs it was a recipe for disaster."
