Various reports have United linked with, amongst others, Ajax’s Nigel De Jong (£3m), Lille’s midfielder Jean Makoun and St Etienne’s Zakora.

That Zakora’s agent knew nothing of any United interest and yesterday phoned a RI contact asking him to help move his player to Old Trafford (!) says a lot about journalists linking him to a move.
