The Daily Express claim that Barca will pay £60m for Beckham
if Laporta becomes President.
The Sun quotes Kluivert as saying that Ruud is pestering him
to join United:
"If it had been down to Ruud, I would have signed for United
a long time ago.
"I have had various calls from Ruud, at least three. We've
also chatted when we've been together with the Holland team.
The first time he called was after Christmas. I don't know
whether he's joking or not but he's told me lots of times
that, sooner or later, I'll end up playing for United.
"He makes a point of telling me how good the atmosphere
there is and that the fans are closer to the players than in
Italy or in Spain. He's really happy to be playing in
England. He's told me the way I play is ideally suited to
English football and although I'm happy in Spain, things
haven't gone at all well this season.
"I already know Dutch, Italian and Spanish football and the
English version is one of the few varieties I don't. At some
stage I think I will play for a big Premiership club."
The Mirror also claim that several candidates for the
Barcelona Presidency are interested in buying Beckham, and
also that one, Rovira, has promised to buy Van Nistelrooy is
he gets elected.
Sir Bobby Charlton is quoted as saying:
"Everybody is human and maybe one day somebody will pay
enough money to prise Ruud away. But hopefully, as long as
we continue winning, he will want to stay here. We want him
to stay."
The Mirror also reports that Fergie is moving for Brazilian
Kleberson and that we will steal him from Newcastle, who are
close to signing him. Apparently Sheringham is moving to
Wolves and Joe Cole will sign for Chelsea.
