Hatem Trabelsi is clearly keen to sign. The Tunisian right
back, currently at Ajax, has voiced his desire to play for
United:
"If it was up to me I would walk to Manchester right now to
sign. When I played in Tunisia I always dreamed about coming
to Europe but it's going better than I expected. Ajax and
Manchester United are legendary clubs.
"Everything depends on Ajax but I would ask them to be
flexible as this is the kind of opportunity which doesn't
come along every day. For United to be interested in an
African player like me is sensational. This is the best
opportunity that could have presented itself.
"I'm versatile in defence and that's good for a club which
plays so many games each season when there are injuries and
other changes to be made. I'm not worried about spending
time on the bench; I had to wait for my chance at Ajax.
"I'm very hard working and down to earth, although with all
this business with United I'm in the papers a lot, but I
understand the interest and have to accept it. What I like
to do is to train and play and let the fans have their say.
That Ferguson is keen is praise to write down and frame on
the wall. For Tunisian football and football in North Africa
it would be historic if I signed."
