New keeper Tim Howard has refused to let his good
performances in the US go to his head. He earned praise from
Fergie after the Barcelona game, especially for a wonder
save from a Xavi free-kick but he insists that it is still
early days in his United career.
"The two matches here have gone very well for me but it is
only the first two matches and I don't think you can read
too much into that. I had an okay game against Juventus and
I needed to get another good one under my belt.
"I was a bit more comfortable tonight and a bit more daring
and courageous. What I do best is getting out of my goal to
challenge the strikers. I did that with Patrick Kluivert in
the first half, which was pleasing because you don't want to
fall too far down after making a good debut.
"If the first 10 days are anything to go by I am looking
forward to spending a long time with this club. The lads
have been great guys both on and off the field. They have
pushed me, treated me well and showed me the ropes and
answered all my questions. To get respect from your team-
mates and fans early on is crucial and I hope I can do that.
"As for getting into the team, there are two weeks to go
before the first match of the Premiership season, I will
just train hard and then let the manager make his decision."
