The Grauniad report:
THERE MAY BE TROUBLE AHEAD
‘Supporters of the four teams that progress from this
weekend's FA Cup quarter-finals could face a day of
transport chaos to watch their teams in the semi-finals.
Maintenance work on the west coast main line means that no
Virgin Trains will be running between London and Milton
Keynes on Sunday April 4, the scheduled date of the semi-
finals.
‘A spokesman for Virgin trains said the delays were
regrettable but inevitable until the line is fully upgraded.
‘"We will speak to clubs that reach the semi-finals, the
police and FA once the line-ups are finalised, but this is
always a nightmare. We will advise clubs to charter trains
for supporters, in which case we will be able to make
alternative lines available to them to get to and from
Manchester and Birmingham."’
