THE NEW BECKHAM
It's a far cry from the humble home where he was brought up. But this is the new £3.5million pad Wayne Rooney will soon be sharing with fiancee Coleen McLoughlin.
The 19-year-old Man United and England whizkid is demolishing a 1930s mansion to build the luxurious complex dubbed Rooney Towers.
And according to the plans, it's going to be every bit as grand as that other famous footballer's gaffe - Beckingham Palace.
An insider said: "Even David and Victoria might be jealous."
The new house in the swanky Cheshire suburb of Prestbury will have six bedrooms, a gym, indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, games room and even a mini-cinema. There's also a tennis court and triple garage.
Until recently ex-Everton striker Wayne lived at his parents' modest semi in Croxteth, Liverpool. Now the £50,000-a-week star and Coleen, 18, are renting a house in nearby Wilmslow until work on their dream home is complete.
But not everyone is happy. One local said: "The old house which used to be there was lovely. I don't know why he had to knock it down.”
