THE BLUE CAMP

‘MANCHESTER United and their supporters are welcome to the
Theatre of Dreams, because I'm here to tell you that the
City of Manchester Stadium - Blue Camp - is the finest
football ground in this country bar none.

‘I've visited most of the Premiership's newish stadia in
recent years - Sunderland's Stadium of Light, the Riverside
up in Middlesbrough and the Reebok - and they've all got
merit. But there isn't a stadium in this country, and I
include Old Trafford in that statement, which can hold a
candle to Manchester City's new home.

‘The Blue Camp, quite literally, is breathtaking to behold.

'I was bowled over by the style and the grandeur of the
place. Such wonderful, clean lines. Facilities to die for.
Not a pillar in sight to guarantee an unimpaired view for
every single supporter.

‘Believe me, if Kevin Keegan can turn out a team to match
their stadium, winning the Premiership will be a doddle.

'As pre-season friendlies go, this one was a corker.

'Barcelona have got some fantastic players. They had one lad
in particular with long hair and big teeth by the name of
Ronaldinho who the City fans really took to.

‘The Blue Camp mooners (sorry lads), cheered when his name
was announced, cheered every time he touched the ball and
gave him a standing ovation when he came off. For the life
of me I can't understand why.’
