Portsmouth are keen to tie up a club record £7million transfer of Portuguese ace Manuel Fernandes - and fend off Manchester United.
The gifted midfielder, 21, arrived from Benfica in the summer on a year-long loan with medical worries. Pompey have the option to buy Fernandes is he proves his fitness.
Redknapp said: "He played Champions League for Benfica last sea-son at Old Trafford and people from there certainly know about him. But we are hoping he'll be a top, top player for us. I'm convinced that will happen."
