Ten Days Out For Rio

The United centre-back aggravated an on-going back injury during the warm-up at Stoke and will almost definately miss the next two games against Middlebrough in the league and the FA Cup 3rd round tie against Southampton.

"We have to get to the root of this because he has had this back problem too many times,"  United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told Sky Sports.

"It's not necessarily long-term.

"He'll be out against Middlesbrough on Monday. I think in maybe 10 days he should be OK."
