The weekend brought together a selection of Premier League fixtures as well as the FA Cup quarter-final matches.
Manchester United had the chance to extend their lead at the top as they faced Wolves. The FA Cup games were overshadowed after Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest just before half-time.
Here is the Football.co.uk Premier League and FA Cup team of the week.
Position : Goalkeeper
Ben Foster (West Brom)
The former England international was in superb form during the 1-1 draw away at Wigan on Saturday. His saves were crucial in keeping the Baggies in the game as Wigan went all out for the win.
Position: Defender
Phil Bardsley (Sunderland)
The Sunderland right-back scored a vital goal to give his side the lead after just twelve minutes at Goodison Park. Although Everton clawed a goal back eleven minutes later, Sunderland held onto the draw and can look forward to a quarter-final replay at the Stadium of Light.
Position: Defender
Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle United)
Coloccini has been excellent this season for the Magpies. The Argentine centre-back was once again a key part of the Newcastle defence against Norwich on Sunday. He shut out the Norwich attack and ensured they came away with a 1-0 win.
Position: Defender
Jonny Evans (Manchester United)
The Northern Irish international is growing in confidence. His calm performance at the back stopped Wolves from scoring and his 21st minute goal put United 1-0 up and set the Champions on their way to a 5-0 victory.
Position: Midfielder
Antonio Valencia (Manchester United)
Wolves were completely overrun by United's attacking power during yesterday's game. Valencia's devastating display down the right was too much for Wolves who caved in and were beaten by five goals to nil. United are looking strong at the moment.
Position: Midfielder
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea City)
The Icelandic midfielder has been a revelation since signing in January. He scored two excellent goals against Fulham during Saturday's game and made it four goals in three matches. Brendan Rodgers will be determined to keep him for next season.
Position: Midfielder
Joe Allen (Swansea City)
The midfield trio of Allen, Britton and Sigurdsson completely overran the Fulham midfield all afternoon. The 3-0 win did not flatter the Swans who thoroughly deserved the victory. Allen has been in superb form all season and was rewarded with a goal against Fulham.
Position: Midfielder
When Cahill is in form Everton usually reap the rewards. He scored the equalising goal against Sunderland during the FA Cup quarter-final tie just as the game seemed to be slipping away from them. It took some fine stops from Mignolet to deny Cahill and Everton from progressing.
Position: Midfielder
Stewart Downing (Liverpool)
The win over Stoke was perhaps Downing's best performance for Liverpool since he joined in the summer. His composed and assured display enabled him to score the winning goal of the game and booked a potential date with Everton at Wembley in the semi-finals.
Position: Forward
Fernando Torres (Chelsea)
For the first time in five months, Torres found the back of the net. Just like London Buses, the Spanish forward scored twice against Leicester and also managed a further two assists. Perhaps it was a sign of things to come from Torres who looked more like the player Liverpool signed in 2007.
Position: Forward
Luis Suarez (Liverpool)
The controversial forward has been linked with a move away from Anfield in recent weeks but showed exactly why he is so important with another vital goal against Stoke in the FA Cup. He put Liverpool 1-0 up and helped the Reds progress to the semi-finals.
