From the MEN.
SUCH LOVELY LADS.
Paperboy Richard Yates hit the headlines when he cheered up a pensioner on his round who had been robbed.Richard, 14, used his savings to buy 72-year-old Brenda Keenan a card and then paid her weekly paper bill of £4.50.
After getting up at 6am to deliver papers Richard thought he was going to spend the first day of the Easter holiday shopping. But we surprised him with a trip to meet his favourite player Ruud Van Nistelroy .
Ruud said: "I was impressed with what Richard did and wanted to meet him. For a young boy to set such an example is great."
Richard, a pupil at Swinton High, said after meeting Ruud: "That was brilliant. I had no idea about this. My mum and dad told me I had to go shopping and I wasn't looking forward to it.”
"I will be getting the shirt framed and will treasure it always."
