Writing in the Super Soaraway Sun, Chris Waddle had some advice for Arsene:
‘I reckon Arsenal’s boss should be yelling ‘Nobody hates us but I’m paranoid they do.’ Arsene has got it wrong. And, for his own sake — and the sake of his club — he must start putting things in perspective.
‘And sooner rather than later otherwise the Gunners will soon become as unpopular as Arsene thinks they already are. It really looks as though he is getting a persecution complex. He is hitting out at everybody. He thinks the FA are against him and his team and Sky Sports’ coverage of the Gunners is not fair.
‘Now, I do not believe anybody’s got it in for Arsenal — not even the referees who have dished out an alarming 51 red cards to Gunners players since Wenger took over as manager seven years ago.
‘And I refuse to accept anybody truly detests them, either. Other clubs and fans may be jealous of their wonderful achievements — going back to the days of one of Arsene’s predecessors, George Graham.
‘His constant bleating is beginning to irritate and alienate a public who should be marvelling at Arsenal’s football.
Maybe the time has come for Arsene to knock the public moaning on the head.’
