SOME SANITY AT LAST
When all around people are losing their heads, Gary Neville speaks some sense. From Sky:
Gary Neville has spoken out in defence of Urs Meier following England's Euro 2004 exit.
"It's difficult, it's one of those decisions. It's a tough call and it went against us, but that happens in football.
"I don't think cheating's ever a word you would hear us use, I don't think for for one minute the referee did that. I've heard people say that but I think it's a little bit overboard.
"He made a decision and he's a human being.
"We were geared up for winning this tournament and I think the boss said to us on the day that it was a fine line - and it is such a fine line, we saw that in the final.
"It's not always the best team that wins and we just needed one or two more things to go our way. But in the end there can be no excuses, we didn't get where we wanted to be and we just have to look forward now to the World Cup."
