'SOFT' FA

Last updated : 01 April 2007 By Editor

"What I can't understand is that Uefa are looking into what was said about Ronaldo by Belgium's goalkeeper while our own FA has taken no action against Boateng.

"There is nothing wrong with tackling. It's a very important part of the game. But you can't accept players saying that they are going to kick people out of matches. That is unacceptable.

Boateng then I am sure they [the FA] would have looked into it straight away.

"The letter would have probably dropped through the letter-box the day before he even said it. But I don't think it's up to us to complain to the FA about comments of other players. We never have and we never will."

Boateng had accused Ronaldo of being "disrespectful" when, near then end of Boro match, he started doing tricks with the ball. "A lot of players want to do what Morrison did . . . No one likes to have the mickey taken out of them. If Ronaldo is going to do that, one day someone will hurt him properly and he will be out for a long time."

REGRETS?

Andy Cole has a few: "I've got regrets about being the headstrong person I am. Yeah, I left Manchester United when I was 30, which was too young."

More:

"I keep asking myself, 'If I came upon someone like me, how would I handle him?'"

"I've got regrets about being the headstrong person I am. Yeah, I left Manchester United when I was 30, which was too young. I enjoyed my time there - it's a wonderful club and I achieved every goal possible.

"But I've never been happy to sit around and not play.

"The manager at United was top drawer because he knew I wasn't the sort to sit around and pick his money up. But I look back and think if I could have been that kind of person I might still be there now - I can still score the goals.

"It's no surprise to me that so many from United in that era are in management now. They all have that sort of tunnel vision that Fergie has.

"He does things the right way, and no doubt Roy Keane does it that way, Incey, Mark Hughes, everyone.

"I've got that same sort of determination that Incey and Keano have got, but I don't know - when I was young I was hard work. I might want to be a boss one day but at the moment I want to concentrate on playing. I still think I've got at least one more Premiership season in me."
