SMITH PUTS THE WORK IN

He continues:

"We've been working on a lot of fitness and technical elements for a few hours in the morning and then again from 3pm to 5.30pm so they've been long days.

"But I've been all right I live about ten minutes away, so it's just round the corner. I'm on my own though and I don't like to sit around too much. I get bored so I tend to do a bit more work after hours.

"No one bats an eye-lid down here! All the players live in a similar area and get left alone, which is great because you can get a bit of peace and quiet.

"The manager wouldn't have brought me here just because of that and I think I've got a good mixture to my game.

"At Leeds, especially last season when we were at the bottom of the league, I had to battle more and get stuck in.

"But at a team of this quality, I should get a lot more chances to perform and get the ball on the floor and play to my full ability.

"For the first time in a long while, I'll be at a club that can go out thinking we can win each game.

"A lot of United fans will know that I've made a brave decision coming from Leeds. They'll know how well they reacted to Rio and Eric coming here.

"Hopefully, they'll know that I'll offer 100 per cent commitment to the club because that's the way I am, that's the way I play.

"Whatever it is I do, and whatever team I play for, I want to win. So, if they're worried about my commitment, they shouldn't be. I'm hoping my performances will reflect that."
