SILVESTRE STANDS BY RIO

Silvestre:

“They have punished one of our team-mates, so they might as
well have punished us all. I'm shocked by the length of the
ban. It's a long time and it will affect his international
career as well.

“As team-mates all we can do is try to understand what he is
going through and act naturally with him because he must be
really down. If we are sad about it as well and make it
obvious in training it will be even worse for him.

“Obviously we hope the ban will be cut. If not it is going
to be hard for him being out of the game and just training.
He won't even be able to play in friendlies and that will be
tough.

“Since the whole thing happened he has done really well - I
don't know if I would have been the same in his position. He
had a hard day on Friday and he didn't sleep a lot
afterwards but probably the best way to get away from his
problems is to play in matches.”

The French defender also spoke of the tendency this season
to concede after going 2-0 up:

“I don't know why it happens when we get 2-0 up but it will
have to stop. If we are not careful we will give ourselves a
heart attack.”
