From the Mirror:
'The Manchester United director facing legal action over an alleged £715,000
gambling debt has quit the club's board.
Amer Al Midani, 45, will still stay on as honorary vice-president of the club in
which he has 500,000 shares.
He is being pursued by the Rio casino in Las Vegas which says he lost a
million dollars playing roulette. It is believed he wrote a cheque to cover his
losses but it bounced. The casino sent letters but the debt has not been
settled.'
Paddy Harverson claims his departure was unrelated to his legal battle.
"He had been planning to step down for some time and it was simply a
question of confirming that. Mr Al Midani has been involved with the club
since the flotation and felt it was time to move on to other things."
