Shareholders United are in Belfast tonight in an attempt to drum up more membership.
"Our membership has risen 500% in the past year to 10,000. Now we want to reach 100,000 in the next 12 months," said SU vice-chairman Sean Bones.
"It is important for supporters to buy shares because brick by brick we build a wall. If we could have 100,000 fans linking together, the club would have to listen to the wishes of its customers.
"We are mounting a big push to keep the club independent and the visit to Belfast is our first away trip.
"We also have plans to mount a similar campaign when United tour America next month."
