Scholes said: "Pre-season has been a little bit different this year. We didn’t have much time off, and we have got a new coach. Unfortunately I got a little knock on my knee as well so I haven’t managed to play as many games as I would have liked. I haven’t played a full game yet, so I need to get as many minutes under my belt as I can, and try to get as fit as I can."
"It’s difficult to say how many games it takes to get fit, but most players need three, four, maybe even five games to get in the swing of things. Up to now I haven’t had the chance to do that, so hopefully in the next few weeks I can get some games in."
