The United midfielder has been sidelined for the last six weeks with a knee ligament injury but he is has returned to training and is expected to join in training with the first team squad over the next two weeks and could be in line for a shock return when United face City at Eastlands on 30th November.
"Paul was spraying 40 yard passes around as if he had never been away," a United spokesman is quoted in The Sun newspaper.
"You would not believe he suffered an injury just six weeks ago.
"He could play in the derby. It's just a question of what the boss wants to do."
