The Cup:

"I don't know what's been wrong this season. We have played really well in spells, but the last few weeks have not been good enough.

"Since losing to Milan we seem to have lost something. The main worry has been the lack of goals and the fact that we haven't been creating many chances.

"We are going into the semi-final hoping that we can get back to making chances and scoring a few goals. Winning the FA Cup would be a consolation.

"It's still a big competition that every team wants to win. We'd rather win the League and the Champions League of course, but the FA Cup is still important."

Second is not good enough:

"We know second isn't good enough for us. We want to win the league. To finish second, you maybe don't have the same motivation as you did to go on and win the league but to finish second is still a big thing."

Talking about Ruud's non-scoring return:

"It's down to the rest of us.

"We're not creating chances for him. In the last few games, I can't really remember a decent chance he's had."

Rooney:

"Wayne can do anything and everything. He's a great player. He has played in a lot of different positions throughout the season, yet he still manages to create things for the team or scores a goal.

"It's great to have him in the team. I can't compare him to anyone I have played with before. He's got amazing talent, but he's still prepared to work hard."

"He can achieve anything. He is often in the spotlight, but nothing seems to affect him. He just concentrates on his football and, being only 19 and doing what he's done in the game already, he hasn't got a problem with his game.

"The publicity doesn't affect him, just like it didn't affect Ryan Giggs and David Beckham before him. Footballers like that just want to play the game and win trophies, and Wayne is no different.

"The future is good for this club given the young talent we've got here. We have got the players to win the big trophies again, and I am like all the senior lads in that I want to be around to help the team do it."

On Chelsea:

"I don't think they've played the most brilliant football that's been seen. "They'd probably admit themselves that they haven't played that well in a few games, but they've got results. They're not really a flowing football team - but they do get results."
