Paul Scholes is ready to make himself available for England again following the departure of Sven Goran Eriksson.
Scholes, who quit international football in 2004, has told friends his decision then was due to a fall-out with the manager rather than a desire to turn his back on his country.
Now that his former coach at Manchester United, Steve McClaren, is at the England helm, the 31-year-old midfielder is willing to do a U-turn - provided he rediscovers his best form at club level after being out of action for six months with an eye injury.
Scholes announced his international retirement after disappointing displays at Euro 2004 where he was played out of position by Eriksson.
