From The Daily Telegraph:
‘Ruud van Nistelrooy is understood to be contemplating legal action against the former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira after being subjected to a character assassination by the Frenchman in his forthcoming autobiography in which the Dutch forward has been described as a 'son of a bitch' and a 'cheat' by Vieira.
Extracts of the autobiography, Vieira, were serialised in the News of the World yesterday ahead of Manchester United's Premiership encounter with Chelsea at Old Trafford, with the Juventus midfielder reigniting the bitter feud that his simmered between United and Arsenal in recent seasons.
Relations between the two players have been strained since Vieira was dismissed for kicking out at Van Nistelrooy during the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford two seasons ago which ultimately ended with players from both sides involved in ugly confrontations on the pitch following a missed penalty by the Dutch striker in stoppage time.
Vieira said: "Ruud van Nistelrooy is a cheat and a coward who is sneaky in the way he goes about fouling other players. Everyone thinks he is a nice guy but, in fact, he's a son of a bitch.
"He has a history of incidents that all too often have gone unnoticed. He has punched Freddie Ljungberg and elbowed Lauren. At Arsenal, we hated him and had real reason to do so. He's a great player, but everything about him annoys me.
"I was sent off at Old Trafford because of him. I got shafted. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil. He tried to stamp on me and then he made more of the challenge than he should have done. I am not blaming the referee. He got shafted too."
