Van Nistelrooy in the Sun,
“We cannot keep having games like Lyon. If we repeat our first-half performance we will be facing defeat to Liverpool. We have to perform for the full 90 minutes like we did in the second half.
“Liverpool is always a special game for this club, particularly at home, and we have to get back on track against them. It has been a disappointing start to the season — we know that. But we cannot change that now, we just have to deal with it and do something.
“As a team we did not play enough football. We were too deep in our own box and allowed our opponents to dominate the play. We have to play higher up the pitch like we did in the second half because that’s when we start making chances.”
Keane said,
“We know there is plenty of improvement to come from the team — and there has to be. It is not ideal when you are giving away goals the way we are. It is a team problem. There were a lot of problems in the first half against Lyon.
“Our passing wasn’t up to scratch. We gave away a couple of bad goals and gave ourselves an uphill battle in the second half.”
