Philippe Mexes reveals why we didn’t bid for him before he went to Roma:
 

“I can say it clearly. There was no concrete offer from Manchester United or Chelsea. I had a phone call with Alex Ferguson. Manchester told us they signed Heinze and they were not interested.”

‘The 18-year-old spent a few days training with the Premiership giants earlier this month and will play for their reserves on Wednesday.
