Rooney was not in the starting line up when United took on Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, this started speculation about Rooney soon to be leaving the club after a bust up with the manager.
Ferguson denied those rumours at his press conference today ahead of the FA Cup quarter final clash with Chelsea.
“Wayne will be here next year,” he told reporters. “You have my word on it. I have no issues at all with the player and he’ll be involved on Sunday.”
The Daily Mirror reported yesterday that Rooney would be on his way out at the end of the season while the Telegraph said that there was a bad feeling between the manager and player and as such he was willing to offload the striker for as little as £20million.
But Fergie added: “The issue you’re all going on about in the papers is absolute rubbish. To suggest we don’t talk to each other on the training ground is absolute nonsense.”
