But Walton ignored the comments and took no action.
A similar tirade from Rooney in February 2005 forced the FA to change their rules to deal with players who swear at officials.
Then he repeatedly shouted ‘F*** off' at referee Graham Poll during the 4-2 Premiership victory over Arsenal at Highbury, after earlier being booked.
They will not pursue the matter any further, though, and have made it clear no disciplinary action will follow.
That is probably just as well for FA bosses.
