"I've missed enough games this season to be sitting out of any game," Rooney told Sky Sports News.
"I want to play in all the games. I didn't want to miss any more, especially after the start of the season. It was good for me to have a run-out tonight.
"I think with each game you get fitter and I'm feeling good now. Hopefully the break I've had could help me towards the end of the season.
"It was a good experience for a lot of the younger players coming in to the team. They handled it well and we got a good result.
"To play Champions League, Roma away is a massive game for some of the young lads, but they have come in and done really well, and I think everyone is proud of that.
"A lot of players stayed at home and it was a good chance for the young lads.
"The manager showed great belief in them and it was a great experience to come and see what the Champions League is all about."
