"There is too much talk about Wayne Rooney.
"People are trying to make him a man before his time, rather than just leaving him to develop.
"It is a big fear for me and England could collapse because of it.
"They should look to the experienced players in the squad to carry the mantle now, rather than a 20-year-old kid.
"With young people, you always hope they get the right advice.
"It is something we have always done really well with at this club.
"But you do need the player to listen. If they don't, you have no chance - you know they have gone the wrong way.
"You need young players with an attentive mind who trust the coach and the manager to do the best for them. He gets that at Manchester United.
"All the responsibility being placed on Wayne winning the World Cup for England has borne fruit.
"He is still a kid. It's the biggest load of nonsense I've ever heard. He still has a lot to learn.
"Wayne and Cristiano will be great players, I would stake my life on it.
"They have potential and we will wait two or three years for them to fulfil it. But people should remember they are only young.
"You have to expect inconsistency and (against Sunderland) they produced probably their worst performances of the season."
