As you will remember Rooney was sent off for an innocuous challenge against Porto in Amsterdam pre-season tournament and was suspended as a result - a decision that the FA didn't have to make.
Reports yesterday suggested he was a trifle fed up with the FA, however a spokesman for Rooney was careful with his words: "Wayne does not blame the FA for any aspect of his current game.
"He is wholly committed in every way to England.
"There's no rift whatsoever with the Football Association."
The quote from Rooney in the Mirror yesterday suggests otherwise though - who would you believe?
"It was hard to take.
"The FA made their decision and it was very nice of them to support me with a three-game ban. Four if you think that I missed the Ajax friendly too.
"I didn't want to say too much, but I didn't even think it was a red card so I was devastated about it, especially because the start of the season is so important."
